Q: What is Formation Rework?

A: "Assault" and "Fortified Formation" will inherit their levels and, along with the newly introduced Defense Formation, become part of the "Formation Technology" system to enhance the combat capabilities of various units.

The bonus effects in "Formation Technology" are permanently effective without restrictions, meaning you don't have to set up a corresponding formation to have them active in all battles. The bonuses from "Assault" and "Fortified and Defense Formation" stack in all battles.

The items used to upgrade Assault and Fortified Formations in "Formation Technology" remain the same as before the update. The new Defense Formation provides all nine soldiers with attributes that increase their HP and defense, greatly improving their survivability. The upgrade materials required are "Formation 101" and "Formation Manual - Defense".


Q: Will the new Formation cause all the items I previously consumed to be cleared or reset?

A: No, the Formation Rework will perfectly migrate your progress to the new one, so your previous efforts won't be in vain. Once the feature is released, the old system will be integrated into the new one instantly.


Q: The damage debuff in the previous Fortified Formation was not very strong. Will the new version of Formation address this issue?

A: Yes, in this new version, the damage debuff of the original Fortified Formation will no longer be available. With the effective features of the "Formation Technology," the effect of maximum level of Assault Formation and Fortified Formation will be shown in the new version of Formation as below.


Q: What is the new Shark Formation?




A: The Shark Formation is a new Formation. Tier III Shark Formation will introduce a new slot called the Backup Slot. You can deploy the tenth unit on the battle panel, and when all units in any of the five squares in Formation: Shark are killed, the backup unit will immediately be deployed in that slot for combat.

We hope the new Formation system will become a powerful fighting tool for your strategic needs!


Q: Do I need to max out the old formations before experiencing the new one ?

A: No, you don't. After the Assault and Fortified Formation were integrated into the "Formation Technology," their effects are completely different from the Formation: Shark and there are no prerequisites for using it. So even if the old formations were not upgraded, you can directly learn the Formation: Shark.


Level-up - directly increase the attributes of slots: each level-up will increase the combat attributes of slots 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8.

Tier-up - unlock new mechanisms and all slot attributes: each tier-up will increase the combat attributes of all slots, and unlock the unique backup slot mechanism of this formation in the third tier.

There is no prerequisite relationship between upgrading and tier-up. Upgrade and tier-up materials will be available in some shops. The choice is yours!


Time and scope:  

After the May 5th update,  some servers  will have access to the New Formation feature before others. The full server release is expected on May 10th. 

 Non-priority servers will receive new "formation" development items that can be exchanged in stores at that time.


Q: Getting reinforcements during battle? 

A: Units that are replenished in the backup slot won't get the buffs that activate at the start of the game. However, all other buffs can still be inherited, and any debuffs that have not expired yet (such as ignite or "unable to launch regular attacks" caused by enemy attacks) will be removed!


Exceptions are:

Buffs that can not be inherited:

Pulse Jammer: If Pulse Jammer is placed in the air force and the original 9-slot units are army units while the backup slot is deployed with air force, the Pulse Jammer effect won't activate.

Encirclement: If Combat Elite deploys units in the backup slot that are different from the units in the 9 slots, the Encirclement effect won't activate after being replenished by the backup slot.

Heavy Trooper: Heavy Trooper cannot be deployed in the Backup Slot.


Buffs that can be inherited or activated:

Decorations such as Golden Plane: The original 9-slot units are army units and the backup slot is air force. When the air force is replenished, the Golden Plane decoration's effect can be activated.

Hero buff effect: Hero's Attack Buff, HP Shield, Damage increase, decreased damage taken, Indestructible, Heavy Armor, "Hostile" mark, Counter-attack, Wild Instinct, "Strike", and other eligible buffs and are still in effect can be inherited.


Costahd suggestion

STOP upgrading the old formations, Assault and Fortified Formation until the new Shark formation is released and have a good and full picture about the new formation. Then you can decide if you will use your resources to upgrade the new formation or continue with the old ones. Is not yet clear what resources we need to use to upgrade Shark formation.
